Let yourself rest

We all get to a point in our crazy busy lives when our senses start to become a little faint. As we’re surrounded nonstop by digital stimulation, we become numb to the outside world and to the inspiration that’s just at the tip of our sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste.

On a trip to Bora Bora and Moorea last year, my husband and I took the opportunity to let go of our digital lives and immerse ourselves in the silence of the wind, the colors of the sea and the warmth of the rays. It was the perfect place to rest, recharge and re-energize.

As designers, we’re constantly connected to our computers. Looking at websites, blogs, and Instagram are nice places to find inspiration, but it’s also important to soak up the artistry that is the world around us. When you stop and take the time to see, touch, taste, hear and smell what’s right in front of you, the inspiration is endless.

A Visual Treat.

On a recent trip to Italy this storefront design grabbed me immediately. The rich character, warmth and quirkiness – pulled at me to go inside.

The shop owner of this meat, cheese and wine store in Siena, Italy was proud of his offerings; and rightfully so. His attention to detail was everywhere on the inside. Pizzicheria De Miccolino has no menu, the concept here is to use your senses. Look, smell, taste, chat and enjoy the atmosphere. Of course we purchased several picnics worth of savory goodies and left with a very unique experience too.
